Croatia is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Stunning landscapes, unspoiled beaches, hundreds of lovely little islands and a calm, laid back lifestyle, which is such a big change for many of us. There’s so much you can do in Croatia, you can go shopping, sailing or scuba diving. You can try your hand at a variety of adventure sports.

Croatia has a picture perfect climate. The temperatures are generally cool and it’s very pleasant, no matter when you visit. The people of Croatia are a very nice and friendly sort, and very welcoming to foreign tourists or settlers.

Perhaps you have experienced all of that and had a great time in Croatia, and now want to sell your home in Croatia for your own reason. There are a plenty of reasons for people to want to sell an overseas property.

 So what are your chances of being able to sell your house in Croatia for a great price?  Now, the housing market in Croatia is doing pretty well. There’s a lot of confidence in the country’s prospects. Things are a lot better than they were back in 2008, during the time of the global housing recession, when nobody wanted to buy a house there.

2015 saw the average price of homes in Croatia rise in double digits. But there is still a long way to go before property prices catch up with the highs of 2007.  What this suggests is that this is a great time to invest in Croatia.

Estate agents have reported a rise in the number of enquiries for properties in Croatia to be up by 40% over the last 18 months. There’s a huge interest in Croatia from Austria, Germany and Russia, as well as from a number of countries in Eastern Europe.

The rise in property prices in Croatia is largely due to the interest from abroad. What has spurred the new interest has been Croatia’s entry into the European Union. This has seen a lot more people show a genuine interest in buying real estate here.

Croatia is often compared to Spain and Italy. It may be argued that Croatia is just as beautiful as Spain and Italy, but does not get the same level of attention. For this reason, holiday homes in Croatia are priced a lot lower than those in Spain, Italy or for that matter, France and Portugal.

Croatia is certainly getting a lot of attention lately, which is good to see. Most foreign buyers of homes in Croatia want to buy a traditional villa on the coastline. That’s because of the opportunities for fishing, sailing, scuba diving and other water sports-related activities available here. Sailing is a popular sport in Croatia and sailing facilities are simply world class.

Croatia is also a very safe country. It is a very stable country, both politically and economically and has a very low crime rate. It is very rare for serious incidents of crime to occur here.

But it’s not all perfect. The bureaucracy in Croatia is slow moving and in some cases, even corrupt. It takes a long time for foreign buyers to get permission to buy property in Croatia. Getting the sales deed for a property that you have just bought takes months. This is one thing that really exasperates people who live here.

 There are other problems that foreign nationals looking to buy a villa in Croatia face. Some properties in Croatia have multiple owners, many of whom are no longer in the country. So it’s hard to get every single owner of a house to agree to the sale. Even so, it is clear that things are moving in the right direction in Croatia, and that’s a good thing to see.
